Sparton Corporation Purchases a Manufacturing Facility in New Mexico
(Jackson, Michigan)-December 15, 2003-Electronics Design and Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider Sparton Corporation (NYSE:SPA) announces the purchase of a manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The 110,000 square-foot control products facility previously owned by Honeywell will be the new center of operations for Sparton in the southwestern United States.
Sparton will close the current facility located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and move all operations to the newly purchased facility at 8500 Bluewater Rd NW located in Albuquerque.
Sparton’s market driven and technological focus was the catalyst in the decision to acquire a more modern facility. The new facility will accommodate customer products with higher technical requirements, as well as provide added floor space.
Sparton intends to remodel the Bluewater Road facility and occupy the manufacturing center in the spring of 2004.
Acquired in 1976, Sparton’s current building, at 4901 Rockaway Blvd., NE, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is no longer sufficient for Sparton’s purposes and is now offered for sale.
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
