Sparton Corporation Announces the Award of a Record Level of New Business

December 10, 2007 (Jackson, MI) – Electronic Design and Manufacturing Service (EMS) provider Sparton Corporation (NYSE:SPA) has announced that the Company has secured a record number of new business opportunities for the Company, which are expected to be in new product start up over the next 12-18 months.

Sparton has received notices of awards for new business from six different customers in the aerospace and medical device markets. The additional new business is projected to be worth in excess of $50 million dollars annually in new sales when fully transitioned.

In aerospace, Sparton will begin to ramp up production for four new programs consisting of several hundred different printed circuit card assemblies. These assemblies will be produced for various aerospace applications. Sparton will provide circuit card assemblies for military aircraft such as the F-15, C-5 and the V-22. The Company will also provide engineering and manufacturing support for commercial applications, including aircraft subsystem controls as well as the latest technology in airline entertainment packages.

In medical devices, Sparton was awarded new manufacturing programs for two of the world’s premier medical device manufacturers. Duane Stierhoff, Sr. Vice President of Sparton Medical Systems was pleased with the additional business which will result in Sparton placing one of the new programs in its facility in DeLeon Springs, Florida. Sparton has also completed a 20,000 square foot addition in Strongsville, allowing Sparton Medical Systems to accommodate the Company’s planned business growth.

While maintaining a homogeneous business model, Sparton also recognizes the need to adhere to industry-specific guidelines and certifications. Five Sparton manufacturing facilities are certified for the Aerospace AS9100 designation. Sparton also has four facilities that are ISO 13485 certified, which is a quality standard specific to medical devices. This standard provides industry recognized guidelines for Sparton to meet the stringent FDA design and manufacturing requirements.
