Tinnitus Treatment System

Tinnitus is a condition in which a person perceives sound that is not actually present in the environment. There are millions of people around the world suffering from this condition.

This device is a novel sound therapy platform used by audiologists to treat tinnitus. The device consists of a handheld acoustic stimuli generator, earphones, and a suite of sounds that enable the audiologist to customize treatment for each patient.

Sparton’s design team was engaged to take a novel algorithm for generating specific sounds and develop a “pocket fit” medical device. The system needed to be capable of running the algorithm, playing generated tones, and allowing audiologists to customize unique tones for each patient. Sparton’s team provided:

End Result

Sparton’s team proved to be the right fit for the system in successfully commercializing it as an FDA Class II medical device. The product was launched in early 2012.
